A couple of weeks ago the group and I ventured out to Alexandria, in an attempt to escape Cairo's constant bellowing traffic horns, littered streets and inner city pollution. It was a much needed escape from the concrete jungle atmosphere.
Alexandria is the second largest city in Egypt and lies lazily along the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It was once Egypt's capital for hundreds of years.
The commute from Cairo to Alexandria is an estimated 3 hour drive, without extensive traffic, unfortunately for us we arrived into the city 5 hours later.
Cranky and exhausted from the turbulent ride, we were pleasantly surprised to be greeted by the Mediterranean sea and our beautiful palace, that sat overlooking the crystalline clear water.
We lodged for two nights and two days at the Windsor Palace Hotel. Built in 1906, this palace still possesses the regal poshness of its era. The palace is referred to as one of Alexandria's "Heritage" hotels. It was built to mimic a small palace and is settled right beside the waterfront.
...I instantly fell in love.
