The Ibn Tulun Mosque

I have never had the pleasure to step into a mosque, a place of worship for followers of Islam, prior to our group trip to the Ibn Tulun Mosque. Upon request we removed our shoes and the female students secured their scarves around their heads to cover their hair.

The mosque was an architectural beauty. Everything was adorned with intrinsic patterns, that were finely engraved into the ceiling, walls, window-frames and etc.

Fun Facts: "Ibn Tulun Mosque is the third largest mosque in the world. It is the oldest mosque in Egypt that has survived in fairly original form."
